This is a transcript of an oral history interview with Andrew H. Berding. Berding dedicated the first half of the interview to a discussion of his role in the U.S. Information Agency (USIA). Major subjects in this portion of the interview included the establishment of the USIA as an independent agency, the role of the USIA in the Atoms for Peace program, agency relations with Congress, and the selection of books for overseas libraries.
